VCE 2024 update
Currently we are working on the submission of our application to deliver the VCE to Year 11 in 2024 and Year 12 in 2025. As a school looking to expand into VCE and the VCE Vocational Major (VM), we must apply to two separate educational bodies, the VCAA (Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority) and the VRQA (Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority), both of which are due by the end of June, 2023.
We are working closely with MACs (Melbourne Archdiocese of Catholic Schools) to ensure all of the policies, coursework and resources are meeting the expectations for both applications and feel we are more than prepared to submit our application on time.
Teachers have been working hard to complete the VCAA templates for 19 subjects to be offered as of Term One next year. Staff who are experienced in the VCE have been tasked with writing courses over the past 6 months and will continue working on the Year 12 units of study as the year progresses.
St Mary’s College intends to deliver a full complement of VCE subjects from 2023. However, as with most secondary schools; class sizes, resources and staffing availability will be a consideration when putting together the final classes and timetables for students.
Students undertaking the VCE also have the option of completing a VET Certificate II or III course as part of their studies. Some will also continue courses started this year, others will take up something new.
